Global Recession Survival Techniques

Improve your Chances to Obtain Business Venture Capital

Small Business Planning to Obtain Venture Capital

What are your chances to obtain financing during the financial crisis / global recession?

Not very good, I would say. As you know by this time, the credit crunch has all of the sudden changed the "mood" of banks and small business venture capitalists.

These sources of small business financing have dried up. And the few with some capital left are controlling their money wells diligently. For example, it is now common practice to demand more personal security from business owners to cover their business loans.

Bottom-line - banks and business venture capitalists are less eager to lend money to small business owners because they have been burnt severely and don't want to provide venture capital to any business looking a little bit shaky and risky...

So, what is the impact on business in general and especially on small businesses? Well, the lifeblood of any business is cash flow. It cannot survive, grow or function without it. And if you cannot obtain the needed business loans or venture capital, you will go out of business.

For this reason medium and small businesses are now forced to pay more attention to their business plans. Business planning will be the key to EVERYTHING in the small business environment from now on. And certainly a thorough business plan will place you in a better position to obtain the needed capital for your precious business venture...

In the past, business owners, when dealing with business plans, haven't paid attention to the potential pitfalls (business risks) in their business ventures and have only focused on the business opportunity they have identified. Unfortunately, small businesses got the perception that money is generated by pursuing a business opportunity only... without paying attention to possible harmful events that can put the new business in danger!

And financial institutions won't tolerate this any longer. The current global recession is here to stay for a time and the after effect of it will be with us for even a longer period - perhaps up to four (4) years! Small business owners don't have a choice any more; risk management will be a requirement - i.e. if they want a share of Mr. Venture Capitalist's cash well.
